The fourth annual Building for Sustainability Symposium will bring together real estate professionals, builders, developers, planners, policymakers, and sustainability leaders to explore practical strategies for creating more sustainable buildings, infrastructure, and communities. Held in Canmore, the two-day event will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops, and guided site visits highlighting innovative projects in the Bow Valley.

Delivered through a partnership between the Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley and the Bow Valley Builders and Developers Association (BOWDA), the symposium promotes collaboration across the real estate and building sectors to address evolving environmental, economic, and community needs.

Funding will also support a series of pre-symposium capacity-building workshops, delivered in partnership with SAIT and ENBIX, to equip real estate and building professionals with practical knowledge and skills they can apply in their work. Together, these initiatives will strengthen industry capacity, encourage knowledge sharing, and support more sustainable approaches to land use, development, and the built environment across Alberta.
