The Alberta Real Estate Foundation is seeking two External Members for its Finance and Audit Committee.

The Foundation is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Finance and Audit Committee, External Committee Member Appointments.
Responsibilities:
External Members serve a one-year term, with an annual reappointment by the Board
Attend committee meetings regularly. The Finance and Audit Committee typically meets 3 times per year, with meetings held virtually in January, May, and October.
Commit approximately 5-7 hours per meeting cycle, including preparation and meeting time.
Attend occasional events.

Interested individuals are invited to submit a resume and cover letter outlining their relevant experience, areas of expertise, and interest in serving as an External Member of AREF’s Finance and Audit Committee.

Required Criteria
Financial management and oversight — Experience with budgeting, financial planning, internal controls, and stewardship of organizational resources.
Accounting, audit, and financial reporting — Experience reviewing financial statements, audit materials, and reporting processes to support transparency, accuracy, and accountability.
Investment management — Experience overseeing investment policies, performance, risk, and long-term asset stewardship in alignment with organizational objectives.
Preferred Criteria
Team players that can contribute to positive and productive conversations.
Commitment, interest, or passion for real estate’s role in strengthening Alberta’s communities, built environment, and quality of life.
Strategic thinkers with innovative ideas and the ability to see the big picture.
